Ink illustration portrait of a red deer stag.

Drawn using one of my own photographs as reference, I used mostly Sakura pigma micron marker pens and an Akashiya Sai ink brush pen for the darkest areas.

A native animal to Britain and many other parts of Europe, red deer (Cervus elaphus) are one of the largest deer species in the world, and the largest found in England. They have a reddish brown coat and males grow a short mane in autumn, as seen here. Their fur also changes to a grey brown in autumn. Deer are animals and hoofed mammals of the family Cervidae. Male deer of almost all species grow and shed new antlers each year.
